Dimensional lumber

Dimensional lumber refers to wood cut to standardized sizes—like 2×4, 2×6, or 4×4—that are commonly used in framing and structural applications. While the nominal sizes are familiar, the actual measurements are slightly smaller due to planing (for example, a 2×4 measures 1.5″ × 3.5″). Typically made from softwoods like spruce, pine, or fir, dimensional lumber is favored for its affordability, versatility, and ease of use. It’s an essential building material for everything from home framing and remodeling to decks and light commercial construction.

SPF Lumber

SPF lumber combines the qualities of three North American softwood species: spruce, pine, and fir. Known for its strength-to-weight ratio, consistent appearance, and affordability, SPF lumber is a top choice for structural framing and general construction. Builders rely on SPF for its ease of cutting and nailing, dimensional stability, and its ability to take paint or stain evenly. Whether you’re building a new home or making structural upgrades, SPF lumber offers a dependable and cost-effective solution.

Engineered Wood Products (EWP)

Engineered wood products are manufactured using layers, strands, or fibers of real wood bonded with strong adhesives. The result is a high-performance material designed to eliminate many of the natural weaknesses found in traditional lumber—such as warping or splitting. EWP is ideal for floor systems, beams, and roof assemblies where strength and consistency matter most. It’s a smart choice for modern construction where precision, efficiency, and long-term stability are key.

Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)

LVL is an engineered wood product made from thin layers of wood veneer laminated together under pressure. This layered construction gives LVL superior strength, consistency, and load-bearing capability compared to traditional solid lumber. LVL is often used in headers, beams, and structural supports where reliability is non-negotiable. It resists warping and shrinkage and is ideal for long spans in residential or commercial construction.

AC Plywood

AC plywood is a multi-layer panel made from wood veneers with an “A” grade sanded face and a “C” grade back. The smooth front face makes it ideal for visible applications like cabinetry, shelving, furniture, and interior wall panels. AC plywood is strong, stable, and easy to finish—making it a go-to material for high-visibility interior projects where appearance matters just as much as performance.

CDX PLYWOOD

CDX plywood is designed for durability and performance in structural and exterior applications. Made from layers of softwood veneers with a rough “C” face and a less finished “D” back, CDX is bonded with moisture-resistant adhesives. It’s commonly used in roofing, subflooring, wall sheathing, and other areas where strength and budget-conscious materials are needed. Though not intended for finished surfaces, CDX is a reliable choice behind the walls and under the floors.

HARDWOOD PLYWOOD

Hardwood plywood is a premium material for furniture, cabinetry, and fine woodworking. Made with hardwood face veneers like oak, maple, or birch, it offers a beautiful natural finish with the strength of a multi-ply construction. It’s easy to cut and shape and takes stain or paint well, making it a favorite among carpenters, woodworkers, and cabinet shops.

UNDERLAYMENT

Underlayment is a critical component in flooring systems, serving as a smooth, stable layer between the subfloor and finished flooring. Whether made from plywood, OSB, fiberboard, or cement board, underlayment helps prevent imperfections from showing through, reduces noise, and provides moisture protection. It’s especially important beneath vinyl, laminate, tile, and hardwood flooring to ensure a clean finish and long-term durability.
